Happy Memorial Day!

Hi, veterans!  I'm Stewart!  Just wanted to say happy Memorial Day to all you folks who are or have been part of the armed forces.  I always wanted to fly an F-14 Tomcat in the Air Force, but when they switched to the F-16, I just wasn't interested anymore.  Now I'm just a veteran of the war of life!  Let me tell you, some days it's a BATTLE just to get to work!  Just last week I had to be in my office to answer phones and I could not catch a bus to save my LIFE!  Every one was either too full or going east instead of west.  When one finally did come, I had to wait like five minutes for some guy in a wheel chair to get on!  I didn't mind sacrificing some time for the handi-capped, of course.  It's just my little part of the daily battle to win the WAR!  I wonder if HE was a veteran?  I bet he was.  In that case, wheelchair man, if you ever read this blog (I think I mentioned it to you as I passed you on the bus), may God bless you for your service to our great country!  Enjoy today's comic!

Sincerely,
Stewart M. Filbert

Hey everyone!  It's Stewart again!  Just wanted to point out some of the new features on Oranges are Funny!  I changed some of the font colors and I think it makes a BIG difference.  Let me know what you think of the new look!  Also, I added a link to the documentary I was in, Off the Cuff!  It's all about my improv troupe competing in a real life improv festival!  Support the arts and buy a copy and maybe someday I can give up my telecommunications job. ;/  Hope you like today's cartoon!

Sincerely,

Stewart M. Filbert

Hey everybody!  It’s Stewart, back on the ATTACK!  I heard a rapper say that once so I thought I’d try it. : )  Hope everyone is loving their jobs more than me!  Everyday I think I’m one day closer to jumping out of my office window!  (Don’t worry, I’m on the first floor so I wouldn’t really get hurt.  I’d just run away!)  Fortunately, today I got done early and thought I’d take in the nice weather with a little “hoops.”  So I headed down to the park with my basketball, and lucky for me, there was actually a goal open for me to use!  So I played a game I made up called “Bank it-Tank it!”  It’s sort of like solitaire with a basketball.  It’s a little too complicated to explain in my blog, but if anyone wants the rules, just shoot me an email!  Just be sure to set aside at least two hours for play time because it gets INTENSE!  Hope you like today’s cartoon!

Sincerely,

Stewart M. Filbert

Hi everybody!  Stewart Filbert here, alive and well!  Sorry for all you who tried to visit yesterday and found no new comic posted, but rest assured, I am not lying in a ditch somewhere!  I just couldn’t get home to get one on the computer due to unforeseen circumstances.  Long story short, have you ever heard of a little thing called an appendectomy?  If you haven’t, let me just say YOU DON'T WANT TO!   I was still a little woozy on medications today, but I think this one turned out pretty good.  Check back tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Stewart M. Filbert

Hi, everyone!  Stewart again!  How's it going?  Well, I'm doing alright after a long day of answering phones... BORING!  I hope your job offers a bit more excitement than mine does because it's all I can do not to get up and walk around the office sometimes!  Plus, Jerry in the cubicle next to me has been getting on my last nerve!  He's an asthmatic.  Well, the cartoons are starting to develop and I think I'm really hitting my stride!  It's like they practically write themselves now.  I've already got some great ideas for the upcoming cartoons.  In one of them I'm going to have an orange who is being thrown down a bowling alley yelling, "I'm not a bowling ball!"  It's going to be great!  Hope you enjoy today's cartoon!

Sincerely,
Stewart M. Filbert

Hi everybody!  It's Stewart.  Just thought I'd say happy Friday to all you 9 to 5ers out there.  HAPPY FRIDAY!  ; o )  Boy, things are really picking up for Oranges are Funny!  Yesterday we had three hits and counting!  Glad you all stopped by for a visit.  Don't forget to make a comment and sign in.  Maybe someday I'll do prizes!  Probably not much, but something.  You know, like some gum or a fresh tube of Neosporin or something.  Who doesn't always need some Neosporin, right?  That stuff is like magic!  It seriously must have been invented by Native Americans or something, because cuts and scratches heal so quickly!  I once made collection of daily photos of two cuts I got on my right hand when I scraped it on the inside of a drain pipe.  One I put Neosporin on and the other one I didn't.  Talk about amazing!  The Neosporin cut healed in like three days practically.  The other one got infected, but that's probably because I didn't clean it or anything because I didn't want to corrupt the experiment.  Maybe tomorrow I'll post the pictures and show you!  Well till then, hope you like today's cartoon!

Sincerely,
Stewart M. Filbert

Hey everyone!  Stewart again!  How's it going?  I just have to say, trying to make it in the comic business sure can take a toll!  I was up all night trying to come up with this one and get it just right but NOTHING was coming to me!  But knowing I had to persevere, brewed me a full pot of 2/3rds decaf , 1/3rd regular Folgers and set to burning the midnight oil.  I added a lot of cream and sugar to hide the bitterness, and boy what a thrill when I discovered I had one cinnamon stick left from when I stewed this winter's apple cider!  Look out, Starbucks!  Stewart M. Filbert's got a concoction to put you out of business and it's called the FILBERTTE!  (pronounced: fil-ber-TAY.)  Mmm, delicious!  For now, I'll just share the recipe with my follower, but for future generations, just know this little drink is great any time you make it!

FILBERTTE
1/3 Regular Folgers Crystals
2/3 Decaf Folgers Crystals
Cream (milk is okay for this)
Spoonful of sugar
1 Cinnamon stick aged about seven months

Welcome fandom!

Hi everyone!  Stewart here!  I'm the one whose blog this is.  I'm so excited to be venturing out into the wild frontier of comic writing at last!  I know this is just a comics blog, but I just had to write something to celebrate: today I got my very first blog follower!!  Welcome, follower!  Don't worry!  Even though you are the only one now, there will be more joining you shortly as the word spreads via the cyberspace of these HILARIOUS new comics!  Believe me, EVERYONE, is going to be reading them, I bet.  So soon you can start a chat room with the other fans and talk about which ones are your favorite!  Which one is your favorite so far, new follower?  You can tell me if you want until other people start following.  Just post a comment!  I'll check it in a little bit to see what you said.  You can pick more than one if you want, too. ; )  I'm just kidding!! You don't have to write anything if you don't want to.  I'm just glad you recognize what potential I have!

Sincerely,
Stewart M. Filbert
